Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the center of Vác, specifically from the Váci Town Hall (Váci Városháza). Head south on Dózsa György utca for about 400 meters until you reach the main square, Váci tér. From the square, continue walking straight towards the Danube River. When you get to the river, turn left onto the promenade (Duna-part), which leads you along the riverbank. After approximately 1.5 km, you will cross the Danube River via the Márianosztra Bridge (Márianosztrai híd). Once across the bridge, continue straight until you reach the main road, then follow signs for Budapest. You can take the train from Váci Rádó to Budapest, which takes about 30 minutes. Upon arriving in Budapest, follow the signs for Szabadság tér (Liberty Square), which is located in District V. It's a popular park and tourist attraction, and you will find it easily.

    From the center of Vác, make your way to the Váci train station (Váci vasútállomás), which is a short walk from the main square. Exit the square onto Dózsa György utca and walk towards the train station. Once there, buy a ticket to Budapest Nyugati railway station. The train ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Budapest Nyugati, exit the station and head to the nearby tram stop. Take tram number 4 or 6 towards Széll Kálmán tér. Ride for about 5 stops and get off at the 'Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út' stop. From there, walk straight down towards the Danube and turn right on the road leading to Szabadság tér. Liberty Square will be on your left.

    To reach Liberty Square from Vác, start at the Váci bus station (Autóbusz-állomás). You can take a bus towards Budapest. Look for the bus line that goes to the city center. The journey will take around 40-50 minutes. Once you arrive in Budapest, get off at the bus stop near the Hungarian Parliament Building. From there, walk towards Szabadság tér, which is located just a short 5-minute walk away. Follow the signs leading to Szabadság tér, and you will arrive at the park.
