Bokodi-hűtőtó: A Hidden Gem of Tranquility in Hungary

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car in the Vértes Mountains, head towards Oroszlány. From the town center, take Route 1 (E-60) heading south. After approximately 5 km, turn onto the road to Bokodi-hűtőtó. Follow the signs leading you to the lake, which is well-marked. There is parking available near the lake, but be aware that it may incur a small fee, typically around 500 HUF.

• Public Transport

  For those using public transportation, take a train from Budapest to Oroszlány. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at Oroszlány train station, you can take bus number 120, which goes directly to Bokodi-hűtőtó. Ensure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited. The bus fare is usually around 300 HUF.

• Walking

  If you are already in Oroszlány and prefer walking, the Bokodi-hűtőtó is approximately a 30-minute walk from the town center. Head south on Kossuth Lajos utca, then take a right onto Kálvária utca, which leads you towards the lake. Follow the road signs directing you to the lake, enjoying the scenic views along the way.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bike in Oroszlány. The ride to Bokodi-hűtőtó is about 4 km and is mostly on paved roads. Follow the same route as if you were driving or walking. Make sure to wear a helmet and be cautious of traffic, especially on Route 1.
