Car
If you're driving from nearby towns in Zala Hills, head towards the M7 motorway. Take the exit for Székesfehérvár and follow the signs for Gyula. Continue on the main road (Route 44) towards Gyula. Once in Gyula, follow local signs for 'Gyulai vár' or use a GPS to direct you to the castle at 5700 Gyula, Gyulai vár. There is parking available near the castle, but be prepared for possible fees.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a train from Zalaegerszeg to Békéscsaba, which usually requires a transfer. From Békéscsaba, catch a local train to Gyula. The train station in Gyula is about a 15-minute walk from the castle. Upon arrival, follow the signs directing you toward 'Gyulai vár' or use a navigation app to guide you. Ensure to check the train schedules in advance as there may be limited service on weekends.
Walking from Gyula Train Station
Once you arrive at Gyula train station, exit the station and head east on Szegedi út. After about 500 meters, turn left onto Kossuth Lajos utca, which will lead you directly to the castle. It will take approximately 15 minutes to walk there. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards 'Gyulai vár' to ensure you're on the right path.
