Getting there

Bus

From the center of Akureyri, walk to the Akureyri Bus Station located at Hafnarstræti 87. Look for the bus line that heads towards Vaðlaskógur. You can check the local bus schedule at the station or online to find a suitable departure time. Once you board the bus, enjoy the scenic ride. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Make sure to inform the driver that you wish to get off at the stop closest to Forest Lagoon, as the bus may not have a direct stop there.

Walking

If you prefer to walk from the bus stop, once you disembark, head towards Vaðlaskógur Street. Follow the street signs and head south for about 1.5 kilometers. The path is mostly flat, and you will enjoy beautiful views of the surrounding nature. Keep an eye out for directional signs that will guide you to Forest Lagoon. The entrance will be on your right as you approach.

Bike Rental

If you enjoy cycling, consider renting a bike from one of the local rental shops in Akureyri. Once you have your bike, head towards the Akureyri Bus Station and then follow the same route as described for walking. The bike ride to Forest Lagoon will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
