If you are traveling by car in Fimmvorduhals Pass, start by navigating towards the Fimmvorduhals hiking area. From the main road (Route 1), take the turn onto Route 249 towards Þórsmörk. Continue driving for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the Fimmvorduhals Pass trailhead. Park in the designated parking area. From the trailhead, follow the marked hiking trail that leads towards Fitjarfoss. The hike is approximately 5 kilometers and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, leading you through beautiful landscapes and views of the surrounding mountains until you arrive at Fitjarfoss, which will be on your left.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, check for shuttle services from Reykjavik or nearby towns to Þórsmörk. Various tour companies offer day trips to the Fimmvorduhals Pass area. Once you reach the Þórsmörk drop-off point, you will need to hike about 5 kilometers following the marked trails to reach Fitjarfoss. Ensure to wear suitable hiking gear as the paths can be rugged. It is advisable to check the bus schedule in advance and reserve your spot, as these services may not run frequently.
Hiking
