Car
If you're driving from Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading northeast. After about 45 kilometers, take the exit for Route 36 towards Thingvellir. Continue on Route 36 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 37. Turn left onto Route 37 and follow it for about 10 kilometers. When you see signs for Geysir, keep an eye out for Engjagil on your right. Turn onto Engjagil, and Golden Circle Cottage will be located at number 4 on your left. Ensure you have a GPS or map app to help guide you along the way, as some rural roads may not be well marked.
Public Transportation
To reach Golden Circle Cottage using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Reykjavik to Geysir. Bus companies like Strætó offer services to the Golden Circle area. You will need to check the schedules in advance as they may vary depending on the season. Once you arrive at the Geysir bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Engjagil 4. Follow the signs towards Geysir and look for Engjagil on your left. This journey may take around 30 minutes on foot, so plan accordingly. Note that bus fares may vary, and you should have cash or a card ready for payment.
