From the center of Grindavik, start at the main bus stop located on Suðurgata. Head east on Suðurgata towards the intersection with Aðalgata. Turn left onto Aðalgata and continue walking straight for about 1 km until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the coast. At this point, you will see signs pointing towards the Katlahraun Lava area. Follow the signs as you walk along the path that leads to the lava fields. This walk should take approximately 20-30 minutes.
