Walking
From the center of Grindavik, head west on Aðalgata towards the coast. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Víkurbraut. Turn left onto Víkurbraut and follow the road until you see the signs for the hiking area towards Grindavik volcano. Look for the trailhead which is marked and located just off the side of the road. The total distance from the center of Grindavik to the trailhead is approximately 2 km, taking around 25-30 minutes to walk.
Biking
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Grindavik and head west on Aðalgata. After about 500 meters, turn left onto Víkurbraut. Continue on Víkurbraut for about 1.5 km until you find the designated bike path leading to the Grindavik volcano hiking area. The bike ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes, depending on your speed.
Public Transport
Currently, there are limited public transport options directly to Grindavik volcano. However, you can take a local bus from the Grindavik town center to the nearest bus stop along Víkurbraut. After getting off, walk west for about 10-15 minutes until you reach the trailhead marked for the volcano hiking area.
