Discovering Höfði House: A Historical Gem in Reykjavík

Getting There

• Walking

  If you're starting from the centre of Grindavik, head north on Aðalgata street towards the main road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Route 43. Turn right and walk towards the bus stop. From there, catch the bus heading to Reykjavík. Once in Reykjavík, get off the bus at the stop near the National Museum of Iceland. From the museum, head east on Suðurlandsbraut road until you reach Borgartún street. Turn left onto Borgartún street, and continue walking until you see Höfði House on your left at Borgartún 105.

• Public Transport

  From Grindavik, walk to the local bus station. Take a bus to Reykjavík; the journey will take about 40 minutes to an hour. Once you arrive in Reykjavík, disembark at the main bus terminal (BSÍ). From there, you can take a local bus number 14 or 4 towards Laugardalur. Get off at the stop closest to Borgartún street. Walk along Borgartún street, and you will find Höfði House at number 105.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike in Grindavik. Start by heading towards Route 43 and follow it north. The ride to Reykjavík will take approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on your speed. Once you reach Reykjavík, continue straight until you reach the intersection with Borgartún street. Turn left onto Borgartún street, and you'll find Höfði House at Borgartún 105.
