Getting There

  • Public Bus

    From the center of Hafnarfjörður, make your way to the nearest bus stop, which is located at Hafnarfjörður Sund. Look for the bus line 1 (Strætó) heading towards Reykjavík. Board the bus and travel for about 10 minutes. Get off at the stop named 'Hafnarfjordur, Víðistaðatún'. From there, it's about a 20-minute walk to the Northern Lights View Point. Head north on Víðistaðatún street until you reach a junction, then turn left onto Göngustígur. Continue straight until you see the viewpoint on your right.

    If you're starting from the Hafnarfjörður town center, head towards the harbor area. Walk along the waterfront promenade towards the direction of Víðistaðatún. Once you reach Víðistaðatún, continue walking straight until you reach Göngustígur. Turn right onto Göngustígur and proceed for about 10 minutes until you see the Northern Lights View Point on your left. Make sure to wear warm clothing, especially if you're visiting in the evening.
