Car
From Hengifoss Waterfall, head back to the main road (route 1), then drive west towards Egilsstaðir. Continue on route 1 for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for route 93 towards Laugarvatn. Follow route 93 for about 30 kilometers, then turn left onto the road leading to Miðfoss, which will be marked. Follow the signs for about 5 kilometers until you reach Miðfoss. Make sure to have a GPS or map handy as cell service may be spotty in rural areas.
Public Transportation
From Hengifoss, take a bus back towards Egilsstaðir. You will need to check the local bus schedule as services may vary. Once in Egilsstaðir, transfer to a bus heading towards Laugarvatn. After arriving in Laugarvatn, you will need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Miðfoss, as public transport does not service this final stretch. The taxi ride from Laugarvatn to Miðfoss should take approximately 10-15 minutes.
