Alternatively, if you prefer walking, it is a long trek of about 16 kilometers to the Hellisheiðarvirkjun. Start by heading north on Aðalgata Street, then turn left onto Hvaleyrarvegur. Follow Hvaleyrarvegur until it merges into Route 1. Continue along Route 1 heading southeast, and you will arrive at the Geothermal Exhibition after several hours of walking.
