Car
From Kerlingarfjöll, drive north on Route 35 (the Kjölur highland road) for approximately 30 km. Follow the signs to Hveravellir. The road is gravel and may require a 4x4 vehicle, especially in adverse weather conditions. Once you reach the Hveravellir geothermal area, look for signs directing you to the Hveravellir hut. The hut is located at latitude 64.8637932 and longitude -19.5575855.
Public Transportation
There are limited bus services available from Reykjavik to Kerlingarfjöll, typically operated during the summer months. From Kerlingarfjöll, you will need to arrange for a local taxi or shuttle service to take you to Hveravellir. Ensure you confirm the taxi service in advance, as options may be limited. Once at Hveravellir, look for the hut at the geothermal area.
