From Kerlingarfjöll, head south on Road 35 toward the town of Reykholt. Continue on Road 35 for approximately 30 km until you reach a fork. Keep right to stay on Road 35, and after about 5 km, turn left onto Road 518. Drive for another 10 km, and then turn right onto a gravel road towards Surtshellir Cave. Follow this gravel road for about 3 km until you reach the parking area near the cave entrance. Please note that a 4x4 vehicle is recommended for this gravel road.
