Car
If you are driving in Landmannalaugar, start from the Landmannalaugar parking area. Head southeast on the main gravel road, following the signs for Hjálparfoss. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometers. You will pass beautiful landscapes and the road may be bumpy, so drive carefully. Once you reach the sign for Hjálparfoss, turn left at the fork. The waterfall is about 1 kilometer down this road. Look for the viewing area to park your car.
Hiking
If you enjoy hiking, you can take a scenic trail from Landmannalaugar to Hjálparfoss. Start at the Landmannalaugar campsite and follow the marked hiking trail heading southeast. The hike is approximately 2.5 kilometers and will take about 1 hour. The trail will lead you through lava fields and geothermal areas. Once you reach the waterfall, there will be a viewpoint where you can enjoy the view and take photos.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transport options directly to Hjálparfoss are limited. However, you can catch a bus from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar. From the Landmannalaugar bus stop, you can take a taxi to Hjálparfoss, which is about 15 kilometers away, or inquire if any local tours include a visit to the waterfall.
