Car
If you are driving, start by navigating to Skálpanesvegur, which is the address for Glacier Expeditions. From the main road (Route 1), take the turn towards Route 37, which will lead you closer to the Langjökull Glacier area. Once on Route 37, follow the signs for the glacier and prepare for some unpaved roads as you approach Skálpanesvegur. Look for a parking area, as you may need to park your car and walk the last few meters to the expedition center.
Public Transportation
To reach Glacier Expeditions using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavik to the nearest town, Húsafell. From Húsafell, you may need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to take you the remaining distance to Skálpanesvegur. It's advisable to check the bus schedules in advance as they may not run frequently, and ensure that your taxi or shuttle service is pre-booked to avoid delays.
Hiking
For the adventurous, if you are already in Langjökull Glacier, consider hiking to Glacier Expeditions. Make sure to start from a known trailhead and follow the marked paths towards Skálpanesvegur. This option requires proper hiking gear and knowledge of the local terrain, as conditions can change rapidly in glacial areas.
