Car
If you are driving, start from Landmannalaugar, which is a common starting point for the Laugavegur Trail. Head east towards the junction of Route 26 and Route 32. Continue on Route 32 until you reach Route 1 (the Ring Road). Take a right on Route 1 and head towards Hella, then follow signs for Route 26 towards Þingvellir National Park. From there, continue on Route 26 until you reach a fork where you will take the left path towards Evindarhólar. After approximately 10 km, you will see signs for Skalabrekkufoss waterfall. Park at the designated area and follow the marked trail which leads directly to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
Using public transportation, you can take a bus from Reykjavik to Landmannalaugar. Be sure to check the schedule as buses may not run frequently. Once you arrive in Landmannalaugar, you will need to hike the Laugavegur Trail towards Þórsmörk. To reach Skalabrekkufoss waterfall, you will need to plan a detour. From the main trail, follow the signs towards Evindarhólar, which may require additional hiking. Make sure to bring a map and check local hiking resources for current trail conditions and any necessary permits.
