To reach Stakkholtsgjá Canyon by car from the Laugavegur Trail, first head towards the town of Þórsmörk. You can access Þórsmörk by taking Road 1 (Ring Road) from Reykjavík towards Hella. At Hella, take Road 26 towards Þórsmörk. The last part of the journey requires a 4x4 vehicle due to river crossings. Follow the signs to Þórsmörk, and once you arrive, park at the visitor center. From the visitor center, you can take the marked hiking path towards Stakkholtsgjá Canyon, which is about a 3 km hike.
Public Transportation

If you are using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavík to Þórsmörk. Several bus companies provide this service, such as Sterna and Reykjavik Excursions. The bus ride takes about 4-5 hours and costs around 10,000 ISK.
