Getting There

• Car

  If you are in Akureyri, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading west. Continue for approximately 90 kilometers until you reach the town of Blönduós. From Blönduós, take Route 68 north towards Hvammstangi. After about 30 kilometers, you'll see signs for Vatnsnesvegur (Route 711). Turn right onto Vatnsnesvegur and follow it for about 20 kilometers until you reach Hvitserkur. There is a parking area near the viewpoint.

• Public Transportation

  From Akureyri, take a bus operated by Strætó to Hvammstangi. The journey takes approximately 3-4 hours. Upon arrival in Hvammstangi, you may need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local tour operator to take you to Hvitserkur, which is about 30 kilometers away. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance as services may vary, especially during off-peak seasons.

• Car Rental

  If you are in the larger towns or cities in North Iceland, consider renting a car. This gives you the flexibility to explore the scenic coastal roads leading to Hvitserkur. Follow the same route as described above, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way. Rental costs typically start around ISK 10,000 per day, depending on the vehicle type.

  For a more structured experience, consider booking a guided tour from Akureyri or Hvammstangi that includes Hvitserkur as one of the stops.
