If you are traveling by car, start from Akureyri, the largest town in the Northeastern Region. Take Route 1 (the Ring Road) south for approximately 66 km until you reach the junction with Route 35. Turn onto Route 35 and continue for about 90 km. You will then need to make a turn onto a gravel road (Hveravellir Road) marked for Hveravellir. Follow this road for about 10 km until you reach Hveravellir. Please note that parts of Route 35 may have gravel sections, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for such conditions.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Akureyri to Blönduós. From Blönduós, you will need to arrange for a taxi to take you to Hveravellir, as there are no direct public transport options to this location. The bus journey will take approximately 1.5 hours, and taxi fares can vary, but expect to pay around 15,000 ISK for the journey (approximately 110 USD). It is advisable to book the taxi in advance.

If you are in the surrounding areas and feeling adventurous, you could also reach Hveravellir by hiking from nearby trails. However, this requires a good map and knowledge of the terrain.
