Car
If you're driving, head east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) from Akureyri. Continue for approximately 90 kilometers until you reach the town of Egilsstaðir. From Egilsstaðir, follow Route 93 south for about 30 kilometers. You will see signs for Selfoss, a beautiful waterfall located on the east side of the river. Turn onto the gravel road leading to the waterfall, and park in the designated area. You'll find that the view of the waterfall is spectacular from this side.
Public Transportation
To reach Selfoss using public transportation, take a bus from Akureyri to Egilsstaðir. Buses are available through the Strætó service and the journey takes around 1.5 hours. Once in Egilsstaðir, you will need to catch a local bus or taxi to take you south on Route 93 to the waterfall. The local bus schedules may vary, so check the latest timetable. Ask the driver to drop you off at the nearest point to Selfoss; it is about a 10-minute walk from the road to the waterfall viewpoint.
