Car
If you are traveling by car from Akureyri, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east. Drive for approximately 85 km until you reach the junction for Route 26. Take Route 26 towards Egilsstaðir. After about 30 km, turn left onto Route 917 towards Mývatn. Continue for another 40 km, then turn right onto Route 1 again for a short distance before taking Route 848 towards Dyngjufjoll. Follow the signs, and you will arrive at the base of Dyngjufjoll. Note that a 4x4 vehicle is recommended due to rough terrain in some areas.

To reach Dyngjufjoll using public transport, take a bus from Akureyri to Egilsstaðir. You can check the schedules with Strætó, the public bus service in Iceland. Once in Egilsstaðir, you will need to transfer to a local bus heading towards Mývatn, which is the closest stop to Dyngjufjoll. From there, it's advisable to arrange a taxi or a local tour to reach the mountain peak, as public transport does not directly service Dyngjufjoll. Note that bus fares vary, and it's best to have Icelandic króna on hand for payment.
