Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Akureyri, the largest town in Northeastern Iceland. Head east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Egilsstaðir. After about 90 km, take a left onto Route 901 heading towards Herðubreið. Continue on Route 901 for approximately 50 km until you reach the junction with Route F88. Turn right onto Route F88 and follow the signs towards Herðubreið. The last stretch will involve driving on F-roads, which may require a 4WD vehicle. Please note that these roads can be challenging, especially in winter, so check road conditions before your trip.
