If you're driving in the Northwestern Region, head towards Hrisey Island, as Mígandifoss is located nearby. From Akureyri, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading towards Varmahlíð. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the turn-off for Route 83, which will take you towards the Hrisey ferry terminal. The ferry to Hrisey departs regularly, and a round-trip ticket costs around ISK 1,500 per person. After arriving on Hrisey Island, drive or walk towards the coordinates 66.0663318, -18.52466. You will need to park in designated areas and walk a short distance to see the waterfall from a safe distance.
Public Transportation
To reach Mígandifoss using public transport, start by taking a bus from Akureyri to the town of Húsavík. From Húsavík, catch a bus that goes to the Hrisey ferry terminal. Make sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may not run frequently. Once at the ferry terminal, take the ferry to Hrisey Island (about a 30-minute ride).
