Walking
From the center of Ólafsvík, head west on Aðalgata Street towards the harbor. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Kaldalón. Turn right onto Kaldalón and follow it until you reach the road leading out of town. Stay on this road for about 3 km, enjoying the scenic views along the way. When you reach the fork in the road, take the left path that leads towards the mountains. Continue on this path for approximately 1 km, and you will start to hear the sound of the waterfall. Follow the pathway that leads downhill towards the sound, and soon you will arrive at Bæjarfoss.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Ólafsvík. Start at the town center and follow Aðalgata Street towards the harbor. From there, take Kaldalón and head out of town. After about 3 km, look for a left fork that leads into the mountain area. Keep pedaling for another kilometer, and be attentive to the sounds of rushing water as you approach Bæjarfoss. You may need to dismount and walk the last bit down to the waterfall, as the paths can be steep.
Hiking
If you are feeling adventurous and want to hike to Bæjarfoss, start your journey at the Ólafsvík campsite. Follow the trail that leads out of the campsite towards the mountains. After about 1 km of hiking, you will reach a viewpoint overlooking the town. From there, continue on the trail that descends into the valley. This trail will lead you to a secondary path that winds through the landscape. Keep hiking for about 3 km until you hear the waterfall; follow the sound to find Bæjarfoss nestled in the rocks.
