Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the center of Saudarkrokur, near the main square. Head east on Aðalgata street towards the harbor. Continue walking straight until you reach the end of the road, where it meets the coast. Once you reach the coast, turn left (north) and follow the coastline for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You'll pass some beautiful views of the ocean and possibly some local wildlife. As you continue, you will see the Hegranesviti Lighthouse in the distance. The lighthouse is located on a small peninsula. Keep walking towards it, and you'll find a pathway leading directly to the lighthouse.

• Biking

  If you have access to a bicycle, start your journey at the center of Saudarkrokur. From the main square, head east on Aðalgata street, and follow it all the way to the harbor. Once you reach the harbor, turn left (north) and take the coastal path that runs along the water. This route is about 1.5 kilometers long. The ride is relatively flat, and you'll enjoy stunning views of the ocean. As you approach the lighthouse, you will see signs directing you towards Hegranesviti. Park your bike at the designated area near the lighthouse.

• Hiking

  For those who enjoy hiking, begin at the center of Saudarkrokur. Take the same route as if you were walking to the lighthouse. Head east on Aðalgata street towards the harbor. When you reach the coast, turn left and follow the scenic coastal trail for approximately 1.5 kilometers. The path is well-marked, and you can enjoy the beautiful Icelandic landscape along the way. Once you arrive at Hegranesviti Lighthouse, take some time to explore the area and enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding coastline.
