From Reykjavik, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east for about 36 kilometers. Then, take the exit onto Route 36 towards Thingvellir National Park. Continue on Route 36 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach Hveragerði. In Hveragerði, follow the signs for Reykjadalur. You can park at the designated parking area at the end of Reykjadalur road (Reykjadalur 816). The parking lot may charge a small fee, around 600 ISK (Icelandic Krona). From the parking area, follow the marked hiking trail for about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) to reach the hot spring thermal river.
