From Skaftafell, head west on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Reykjavik. Continue for approximately 60 kilometers (about 37 miles). You will pass the town of Vík and several scenic landscapes. Keep an eye out for the signs directing you to Raufarhólshellir, which is located just off Route 1. Turn right onto Road 36, following signs for Raufarhólshellir. The cave entrance is about 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) down Road 36. There is a parking area available at the site.
