Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start from the town of Borgarnes. Take Route 1 (Ring Road) heading west until you reach the junction with Route 54. Turn onto Route 54 and continue towards Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Follow Route 54 for about 25 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 58. Turn right onto Route 58 and continue for approximately 15 kilometers. You will then see signs for Bifröst. Turn left onto the road leading into Bifröst. Continue on this road for about 10 kilometers until you reach the coordinates PCMG+P2M, which is the location of Laxfoss. Make sure your car is equipped for Icelandic roads, as some may be gravel or require a 4x4 vehicle.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Laxfoss by public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavik to Borgarnes. The bus service is provided by Strætó, and you can check their schedule online. Once you arrive in Borgarnes, you will need to catch a local bus that goes towards Snæfellsnes Peninsula, specifically towards Bifröst. Be sure to check the local bus schedules, as they may not run frequently. Once you arrive in Bifröst, you can either walk or take a taxi to Laxfoss, which is about 10 kilometers away (a taxi may cost around 3,000-5,000 ISK). Ensure you have cash or a card that works in Iceland for any bus or taxi fares.
