Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards the town of Ólafsvík, which is a central location in the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. From Ólafsvík, take Route 54 heading south. After approximately 16 kilometers, you will reach a junction; continue straight to stay on Route 54. After another 12 kilometers, you will see signs for Gerðuberg Cliffs. Turn left onto the gravel road that leads directly to the cliffs. There is a small parking area available nearby. Make sure to check your fuel, as gas stations can be sparse in this region.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Reykjavík to Snæfellsbær, which is the nearest town to Gerðuberg Cliffs. The bus service is operated by Strætó, and you can check their website for schedules and fares. Once you arrive in Snæfellsbær, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for transportation with a local tour operator to get to Gerðuberg Cliffs, as public transport does not directly connect to the cliffs. Be sure to book the taxi in advance to avoid delays.

• Bicycle

  If you're feeling adventurous and are equipped to cycle, you can bike from the town of Hellnar, which is about 18 kilometers from the cliffs. Follow Route 54 heading east, and be prepared for some uphill climbs. The paths can be rugged, so make sure you wear proper cycling gear and are comfortable with mountain biking. Once you reach Gerðuberg, there will be signs guiding you to the cliffs.
