Car
If you are driving from the center of Snæfellsbær, head west on Þjóðvegur 54 for approximately 6 kilometers. Look for the signs directing you to Vatnshellir Cave, which will guide you to Road 574. Turn onto Road 574 and continue for about 3 kilometers. The entrance to Vatnshellir Cave will be clearly marked on your right. There is a parking area available for visitors. Note that there might be an entrance fee for guided tours inside the cave.
Public Transportation
Take the local bus service from Snæfellsbær to the nearest bus stop at Hellnar. From Hellnar, you will need to walk approximately 2 kilometers along Road 574 to reach Vatnshellir Cave. Make sure to check the bus schedule as it may not run frequently. Alternatively, consider arranging a taxi from Hellnar to the cave if walking is not preferred. Be aware that there may be an entrance fee for guided tours inside the cave.
Walking
If you are staying in nearby accommodations or campsites, you can walk from your location to Vatnshellir Cave. Simply follow Road 574, which is well-marked, and enjoy the scenic views as you make your way to the cave. The walk is approximately 2-3 kilometers depending on your starting point. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the terrain can be uneven.
