If you are driving, start by heading south on Route 43 from Reykjavík. Continue for approximately 50 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 41. Take the exit onto Route 41 towards Keflavik Airport. After about 25 kilometers, keep an eye out for Route 43 again and take the exit towards Sandgerði. Follow Route 43 and then turn onto Froad Sandvíkurslóði, which will lead you directly to Stóra Sandvík. The total journey from Reykjavík should take around 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.

For those using public transportation, take the Strætó bus (Route 55) from Reykjavík to Sandgerði. The bus runs several times a day, and the trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Sandgerði, you will need to take a taxi to reach Stóra Sandvík, as public transportation does not go directly there. The taxi ride will take about 10 minutes and cost around 3,000 ISK (Icelandic króna). Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance for departure times.
