Start your journey by heading east on Route 1 (the Ring Road) from your current location in Southern Region. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit towards Route 30, following signs for Þingvellir. Continue on Route 30 for about 12 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 36. Turn right onto Route 36 and drive for another 10 kilometers. You will then turn left onto Svínaskarðsleið, which is a gravel road leading directly to Móskarðshnjúkar. Please note that a 4WD vehicle is recommended for this last stretch, as the road may be rough and unpaved.

To access Móskarðshnjúkar via public transport, take a bus from Reykjavík to Hella, which is operated by Strætó. The journey will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. From Hella, you will need to arrange for a taxi to drive you to Móskarðshnjúkar, as public transport does not cover the last part of the journey. The taxi ride will take approximately 30 minutes and cost around 8,000 ISK. It is advisable to book the taxi in advance, as services may be limited.
