Getting There

    From Hengifoss Waterfall, head southeast on the marked path leading away from the waterfall. After approximately 2 kilometers, you will reach the main road (Route 1). Make a left turn onto Route 1, and drive for about 12 kilometers. Look for a sign indicating Nýifoss. Turn right onto the gravel road that leads to Nýifoss. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers to reach the waterfall. Note that access may require a 4x4 vehicle depending on the road conditions.

  • Public Transportation

    From Hengifoss Waterfall, the nearest bus stop is in the town of Egilsstaðir, which is approximately 25 kilometers away. You will need to walk back to the main road (Route 1) and catch a bus to Egilsstaðir. Once in Egilsstaðir, look for local buses or tours that go to Nýifoss. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited. It is advisable to arrange for a taxi from Egilsstaðir if public transport options are unavailable, which may cost around ISK 10,000-15,000.
