Car
If you're traveling by car, start on Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east from Reykjavik. Continue on Route 1 for about 150 km until you reach the town of Vik. Just before Vik, take the exit onto Route 218 (also known as Sólheimasandur Road) towards Sólheimajökull. Follow this road for approximately 10 km. You will find a parking area at the Sólheimajökull glacier where you can park your car. Note that there is a parking fee of about 700 ISK.
