Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Selfoss. From Selfoss, take Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading north. After approximately 70 kilometers, take the exit onto Route 35 towards Þingvellir. Continue on Route 35 for about 40 kilometers and then turn onto GJ22. Follow GJ22 for around 15 kilometers, and you will arrive at Þrístapar, located at GJ22+GP8, Húnavatnshreppur. Ensure to check your fuel levels as there are limited services along this route.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Reykjavik to Selfoss. Once you reach Selfoss, check the local bus schedule for connections towards Þingvellir. After arriving at Þingvellir, you will need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to take you to Þrístapar, as public transport does not directly service this landmark. Note that taxi fares may vary, so it’s advisable to confirm the cost beforehand.
