  If you're traveling by car, start on Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading east from Reykjavik. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the town of Hella, then take Route 261 towards Þykkvibær. Follow Route 261 until you reach the intersection with Route 215, where you will turn left. Continue on Route 215 until you see signs for Skalabrekkufoss waterfall.   For those using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavik to Hella. Bus services like Strætó offer routes to Hella.
