Start at the center of Vík, near the famous Vík í Mýrdal Church. From the church, head southeast on Víkurbraut road. Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass by several local shops and cafés along the way. Keep an eye on the road signs. Kötlusetur - Katla visitor centre will be on your right side, just before you reach the junction with the main road leading out of Vík.

If you have access to a bicycle, start from the center of Vík. Head southeast on Víkurbraut road, cycling straight for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding landscapes. Watch for road signs indicating the direction to Kötlusetur. The visitor centre will be located on your right, just before the intersection with the main road.
