Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Reykjavik and head west on Route 1 (the Ring Road). Continue for about 70 kilometers (43 miles) until you reach the town of Borgarnes. Take the exit to Route 54 towards Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Continue on Route 54 for approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles) until you reach the turnoff for Höfði Lighthouse. Follow the signs to the lighthouse. There is a small parking area near the lighthouse where you can leave your vehicle.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Reykjavik to Borgarnes. Check the schedules with Strætó, the public bus service, which operates routes to Borgarnes. Once in Borgarnes, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange for a local transfer service to take you to Höfði Lighthouse, as public transport does not serve the lighthouse directly. Be sure to confirm the cost of the taxi ride beforehand, as prices can vary.
Walking
If you are nearby and looking for a scenic walk, you can park at the designated area near the lighthouse and enjoy a short 10-15 minute walk to the site. The path is well-marked, leading you through beautiful landscapes. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and check the weather conditions, as it can be windy near the coast.
