Car
If you are traveling by car, you can reach Dýrafjörður by following Route 60. From Ísafjörður, drive southwest on Route 60 for approximately 56 kilometers. You will pass through the scenic landscapes of the Westfjords, including stunning fjords and mountains. Continue on Route 60 until you reach the turn-off for Dýrafjörður, which is well-marked. Take the turn and follow the road down to the fjord. The drive takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes, depending on road and weather conditions.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from Ísafjörður to the nearest town, which is Þingeyri. The bus service (Strætó) operates regularly, but check the schedule ahead of time as it may vary by season. Once you arrive in Þingeyri, you can either walk or take a taxi to Dýrafjörður, which is about 10 kilometers away. The bus fare will cost around 1,500 ISK, and a taxi from Þingeyri to Dýrafjörður may cost approximately 3,500 ISK.
