Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, make your way to the town of Ísafjörður, which is a central hub in the Westfjords. From Ísafjörður, head south on Route 61 towards Þingeyri. After about 25 kilometers, take the exit for Route 60 towards Flateyri. Continue on Route 60 for approximately 35 kilometers until you reach the junction with Skálavíkurvegur (Route 416). Turn left onto Skálavíkurvegur and follow the road for about 5 kilometers. You'll find Minnibakki Beach on your right-hand side, known for its scenic views and wildlife. Make sure to check road conditions, especially in winter, as some roads may be closed due to snow.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, check for bus services from Ísafjörður. The bus company, Strætó, operates routes throughout the Westfjords. Look for a bus heading to Þingeyri or Flateyri, and request to be dropped off at the junction of Skálavíkurvegur (Route 416). From there, you will need to walk approximately 5 kilometers along Skálavíkurvegur to reach Minnibakki Beach. Make sure to verify the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited, especially during the off-peak season.

  For a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Ísafjörður. Taxi services can be arranged in advance and offer a convenient option to reach Minnibakki Beach without the need to navigate public transport. The drive from Ísafjörður to Minnibakki Beach will take approximately 45 minutes, and costs may vary depending on the taxi service.
