Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the center of McCall, head south on Idaho State Highway 55 (N. 3rd St) towards Payette Lake. Continue straight for approximately 2 miles. Once you reach the junction with Warren Wagon Road, turn left onto Warren Wagon Rd and continue for about 4 miles. Look for the signs pointing to Box Lake Trailhead; the trailhead will be on your right. There is no charge for parking at the trailhead.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Box Lake Trailhead using public transport, take the local bus service from McCall that heads towards the north side of Payette Lake. You will need to check the local bus schedule for times. Disembark at the nearest bus stop to Highway 55, then you can either walk or use a rideshare service to reach the trailhead, which is approximately 1.5 miles away. Make sure to plan accordingly as public transport options can be limited.

• Bicycling

  For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in McCall. Start on N. 3rd St and head south towards Highway 55. Follow the same route for cars, turning onto Warren Wagon Rd. The road is mostly flat, and you will enjoy the scenic views along the way. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules. The ride is approximately 6 miles one way.
