Getting There

  • Walking

    Start in downtown Sandpoint at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Main Street. Head north on 1st Avenue until you reach the roundabout. Continue straight through the roundabout onto N 5th Avenue. Follow this road as it curves to the left and becomes N Boyer Avenue. Keep walking straight for about 1 mile until you reach the intersection with Highway 95. Cross Highway 95 at the designated pedestrian crossing, then continue straight on N Boyer Avenue, which turns into N 1st Avenue once you cross back into Ponderay. Follow N 1st Avenue until you see the signs for the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail. The trailhead will be on your left.

  • Biking

    If you have a bike, start at the Sandpoint City Beach Park. From the park, head east on Lake Street until you reach the intersection with N 1st Avenue. Turn left onto N 1st Avenue and follow it north. Continue along the road for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Highway 95. Use the pedestrian crossing to cross Highway 95 safely. Continue straight on N Boyer Avenue, which turns into N 1st Avenue in Ponderay. The Pend d'Oreille Bay Trailhead will be on your left as you continue north.

    From Sandpoint, take the local bus service (check the schedule for the latest routes). Board the bus heading towards Ponderay and get off at the stop closest to Highway 95 and N Boyer Avenue. Once you disembark, walk north on N Boyer Avenue, which will eventually become N 1st Avenue. Keep walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you see the entrance to the Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail on your left.
