Public Transportation
If you're starting from the Arlington Heights Metra Station, exit the station and head west on Northwest Highway (IL-14). Walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Arlington Heights Road. From there, you can catch the Pace Bus Route 696 heading towards Lakefront Trail. Get off at the stop near the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Waveland Avenue. From there, walk south towards the Lakefront Trail entrance, which is well-marked.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from the Arlington Heights downtown area, head southeast on Vail Avenue until you reach East Campbell Street. Turn right and follow Campbell Street to the intersection with South Arlington Heights Road. Continue south on Arlington Heights Road until you reach Northwest Highway (IL-14). Cross the highway and continue straight to follow the signs to Lakefront Trail. It's approximately a 2-mile walk, so wear comfortable shoes!
Biking
For those looking to bike, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in downtown Arlington Heights. Start your ride heading south on Vail Avenue toward East Campbell Street. Turn right and pedal down Campbell until you hit South Arlington Heights Road. From there, head south and follow the bike lanes towards Northwest Highway (IL-14). You can find bike paths leading directly to the Lakefront Trail. The ride will take about 20-30 minutes depending on your pace.
