Public Transit
From the Arlington Heights Train Station, take the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago. Stay on the train for approximately 50 minutes until you reach the Ogilvie Transportation Center in downtown Chicago. Once you arrive at Ogilvie, exit the train station and follow the signs to the 'Washington/Wells' station, where you can transfer to the 'Brown' or 'Pink' lines. Take the 'Brown' line towards 'Kimball' or the 'Pink' line towards '54th/Cermak' for one stop to the 'Washington/Wells' stop. Exit the station and walk east towards the shores of Lake Michigan. Continue walking towards the New Eastside neighborhood, which is located right by the water. The New Eastside area is easily recognizable and you will be able to enjoy the scenic views as you approach your destination.
Walking
If you are already in Arlington Heights, you can explore the local area on foot. Start by heading to the Arlington Heights Train Station and take the Metra train to Chicago. Once you arrive at Ogilvie Transportation Center, you can walk to the New Eastside neighborhood by heading southeast along Madison Street, then turning south on Wacker Drive, which leads directly to the area near the lakefront. The New Eastside is a vibrant area with parks and waterfront access, making it a pleasant walk.
Biking
For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Arlington Heights and ride to the Metra Train Station. From there, take the train to Ogilvie Transportation Center. After exiting the train, you can bike along the designated bike lanes through downtown Chicago. Follow the route from Ogilvie to the New Eastside by taking Wacker Drive south along the river and then heading east towards the lake. This route is cyclist-friendly and offers beautiful views of the city.
