From Arlington Heights, head to the Arlington Heights Metra station located at 45 W Northwest Hwy, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Board the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line train towards Chicago and enjoy the scenic ride. Disembark at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago. Once you exit the station, follow signs for the West Loop and head southeast towards W Washington Blvd. Turn right onto W Washington Blvd and continue until you reach N State St. Turn left onto N State St and walk north until you reach the intersection with Michigan Ave. The DuSable Bridge will be right in front of you at 333 Michigan Ave.

At the nearest bus stop in Arlington Heights, take the Pace bus route 696 towards the Rosemont CTA station. Ride until you reach the Rosemont station, where you can transfer to the Blue Line train towards UIC-Halsted. Ride the Blue Line to the Washington & Wells station. From there, walk east towards W Washington St, then turn left onto N Wells St and head north until you reach W Madison St. Turn right onto W Madison St and walk until you reach N Michigan Ave. Turn left and continue walking north; the DuSable Bridge will be located at 333 Michigan Ave.

If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from one of the local bike rental services in Arlington Heights. Start by heading south on Arlington Heights Rd. Follow the bike paths towards the Des Plaines River Trail. Continue along the trail until you reach the Chicago River. From there, navigate towards downtown Chicago, following signs for bike paths and lanes. Once you reach the Michigan Ave area, you'll find the DuSable Bridge at 333 Michigan Ave. Make sure to follow all traffic rules and use bike lanes where available.

If you are feeling adventurous and are up for a long walk, start from downtown Arlington Heights. Walk south on Arlington Heights Rd until you reach the intersection with W Northwest Hwy. Turn left and continue walking until you reach the Metra station where you can catch a train as described above. Alternatively, walk directly towards the bus stops located along W Northwest Hwy to catch a bus heading towards Chicago, or start your journey from a nearby park or landmark and make your way towards downtown Chicago by foot, following street signs to Michigan Ave.
