Public Transit
To reach the Chicago Riverwalk from Bolingbrook using public transit, start by walking to the closest Pace bus stop. You can catch Pace Route 834, which heads towards the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train station in Romeoville. Get off at the Romeoville Metra Station. From there, take the Metra Heritage Corridor Line train towards Union Station in Chicago. Once you arrive at Union Station, exit the train and walk towards the Canal Street exit. From Canal Street, you can walk east along Adams Street until you reach the Chicago Riverwalk, which will be on your right, approximately a 15-minute walk.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in Bolingbrook. Start by heading north on IL-53 (S. Weber Rd) and follow the bike paths towards the DuPage River Trail. Follow the trail until you reach the junction with the Illinois & Michigan Canal State Trail. Continue on the canal trail and follow the signs towards Chicago. As you approach the city, navigate to the bike lanes on Wacker Drive, which will lead you directly to the Chicago Riverwalk.
Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and want to walk, start at the Bolingbrook Town Center. Head northeast on S. Bolingbrook Dr until you reach the intersection with Boughton Rd. Turn left onto Boughton Rd and continue until you reach IL-53. Follow IL-53 north, which will merge into IL-355. At this point, you will have to find a nearby Metra station or Pace bus stop to continue towards Chicago, as it is a long walk. The entire journey on foot would take several hours, so it is more practical to use public transit or a bike.
