From Canal Street, walk two blocks east to State Street. Turn left on State Street and walk north for about 0.5 miles until you reach 17 N State St, where the Muddy Waters Mural is located.

If you prefer to bicycle from Arlington Heights to Chicago, you can start at the Arlington Heights Village Hall, located at 33 S Arlington Heights Rd. Take Arlington Heights Rd south until you reach the intersection with Northwest Hwy (Route 14). Head east on Northwest Hwy until you reach the intersection with State St. Turn south on State St and follow it until you reach 17 N State St. The ride is approximately 30 miles and may take around 2 hours depending on your cycling speed.
