The Wingert House is one of the few remaining buildings in Chicago that existed before the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Throughout the late 20th century, the house suffered from neglect and fell into disrepair. In 1990, the city designated the Wingert House as a Chicago Landmark, ensuring its preservation.While the interior isn't always open to the public, the exterior offers a charming glimpse into the past. The house was damaged by fire in 2021 but was renovated and sold in 2024.
