Glencoe Historical Society: Preserving Local Heritage

The Glencoe Historical Society operates from the Eklund Museum and Garden at 375 Park Avenue, Glencoe. This all-volunteer, non-profit organization is committed to promoting an understanding of Glencoe's history and heritage. It achieves this through various programs, exhibits, activities, and events that highlight its archival resource collection.The society was formed in February 1937 by a group of Glencoe residents who believed in gathering and preserving the village's early history. For many years, the Historical Society operated out of the Glencoe Public Library. In the mid-1980s, the Glencoe Park District provided space for them above the Watts Ice Rink.Visitors can explore Glencoe's past through the society's museum and gardens. The museum features exhibits that showcase artifacts, documents, and photographs related to Glencoe's development. The Glencoe Historical Society also offers various programs and events throughout the year, including lectures, walking tours, and community celebrations.
